Gators Newsletter – Week of July 13 - July 20

July 13th

Welcome to the (almost) ODSL post-season! We have one makeup meet from last Wednesday’s rainout, and it’s on to the post-season.

Meet results from Saturday have been published online and can be found on the Documents andLinks page.

It’s a busy week ahead! Please take a moment to read through this entire message so you don’t miss any important updates.

Morning Practices:

  • Monday, July 14 – Age Group and Mini Gators practice
  • Tuesday – Age Group and Mini Gators practice
  • Wednesday – NO PRACTICE! Team pictures (see below)
  • Friday – Age Group practice as usual

Evening Practices:

  • If your swimmer is unable to attend morning practices this week and would like to practice in the evening, email [email protected].
  • Evening practices this week will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:00 – 6:45 pm OR 6:45 – 7:30 pm.
  • Please include the practice time you would like to attend with your email.

PICTURE DAY!

  • Date: Wednesday, July 16
  • Time: 8:00 am (Individual/Sibling photos). 9:00 am (Team photo – we would love to have EVERYONE there if you can)

Online Ordering Instructions

Please place your order before picture day. This will help streamline the process so we can get everyone’s individual and sibling pictures taken quickly and then finish the group picture before it gets too hot.

  1. Go to www.olsonphotography.com
  2. If you are a returning user, log in or create a new account
  3. Select “Click here to order.”
  4. Select your order timing (before/on/after picture day)
  5. When prompted, enter the access code: SWIM
  6. Enter your swimmer’s information
    • Coach’s Last Name: Behan
    • Team Name: Greenway Gators
    • Sport: Swimming
    • League Name: Greenway Gators
    • Location: 55 Meade Drive SW, Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date of Shoot: 07-17-2025
    • Time of Shoot: 8:00 AM
  7. Select “Continue” and add desired items to your online cart
  8. After checking out, we recommend you print the order confirmation page. You will also receive an email with this information.
    • Your order number must be presented (hard copy) to the photographer on picture day. If you forget to print a copy, please flag your confirmation email. You will need this on picture day so you can write your confirmation number on an order slip that will be handed to the photographer.
  9. Repeat these steps to create a separate order if you are ordering individual images for more than one swimmer.

NOTES:

  • If you have multiple children and are ordering separate packages, you must check out and pay for each child separately. Each child will need a separate order with a different confirmation number.
  • Siblings only need one order for the group. Please put first names on the form for all siblings in the group.
  • If you do not have a printer and you placed an online order, please have your child bring the confirmation number to the shoot. There are photo slips at the shoot to put your confirmation number on.
  • There will also be envelopes to fill out at the shoot for checks and cash payments. Credit payments MUST be submitted prior to picture day.
  • Picture day is always followed by some fun water games - we hope you'll stick around

Gators and Watermocs 2nd Annual Racing Exhibition and Community Food Drive

Please join us for our second annual racing exhibition and community food drive benefiting Loudoun Hunger Relief.

How do we win?

Bring non-perishable food items if you are participating in the relay races. The team with the biggest pile of food WINS!! :)

What are the events?

  • Tandem 50m Relay: (Teams of 4)
  • Chicken Relay (Teams of 4)
  • Tee Shirt Relay (Teams of 4)
  • Gator Relay (Teams of 4)

How do we enter?

  • Select two events only. We will make adjustments if space allows.
  • Please include your swimmer's name in the comments.
  • Be sure to fill one slot per swimmer.
  • If you would like to swim with your friends, please note who you would like to swim with in the comments section as well. Our coaches will set up the relay teams to accommodate all requests, but we appreciate everyone's flexibility.

Swim Meets This Week:

IMPORTANT: If your Gator(s) would like to participate, you must declare your intent by the deadlines listed below. Changes will not be made at the events.

Swimmers may sign up for a maximum of 3 individual events (Free/Back/Breaststroke/Fly/Individual Medley)

Wednesday, July 15: Greenway Gators vs Franklin Park Stingrays Makeup Meet

  • Declare your swimmers by 7 pm TOMORROW, Monday, July 14. We cannot adjust the roster after the deadline.
  • Please sign up to Volunteer – Your swimmers need you!
  • Pool location: 55 Meade Drive SW, Leesburg, VA
  • Pool deck open: 5:00 pm
  • Greenway Gators Warm-up: 5:10 - 5:30 pm
  • Franklin Park Stingrays Warm-up: 5:30 – 5:50 pm
  • Officials meeting: 5:40 pm
  • Timers briefing: 5:45 pm
  • National Anthem around 5:55 pm
  • The meet will begin at 6:00 pm
  • Cash-only concessions will be available.
  • Swimmers must stay in their team area. Staying together will help ensure no one misses a race.

Saturday, July 19: Divisionals at HOME!!

  • Declare your swimmers by 7PM Thursday, July 17. We cannot adjust the roster after the deadline.
  • Eligibility:
    • Swimmers must have participated in a minimum of 2 ODSL sanctioned meets during the 2025 season (not including Time Trials)
    • Swimmers must have a valid time in any event they enter
    • Swimmers who qualified for one All Star event may participate, but NOT in the event for which they qualified
    • Swimmers must not have qualified for two or more events at the ODSL All Star meet
  • Events:
    • Swimmers may sign-up for a maximum of 3 individual events. Team relays are not held at EOS meets
  • Volunteers:
    • We need your help! Please sign up to volunteer. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available throughout the morning.
  • Pool location: 55 Meade Drive SW, Leesburg, VA
  • Restating because there will be five teams at this event. It is imperative that swimmers stay in the team area. This will be easier for everyone since spectators are only permitted on the pool deck to observe their swimmer’s race and then must return to the parking lot/team staging area.
  • More detailed information about Divisionals including heat sheets will continue to be shared throughout the week!

2025 Greenway Gators Team Banquet – Sunday, July 20

Please join us to celebrate the Greenway Gators 2025 Season!

  • Who: Gators, Mini Gators, and their families
  • What: Pool party, banquet, and awards! Come hungry for dinner and cake!
  • When: Sunday, July 20 from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
  • Where: Greenway Farms Pool

Please RSVP so we can get a general headcount to be sure we have enough food and goodies for everyone.

2025 Gators Photos Album

Please continue to add candid photos from throughout the season to our shared Google photo album. We use them for the banquet!

Inclement Weather Reminder:

  • If the pool needs to be closed due to the weather, practices will be canceled. This could also mean practices may end early on occasion. Please keep an eye on the weather and trust that we will post to the Gators Facebook group and do our best to also send an email notification in the event practices need to be delayed or canceled.
  • During swim meets, lifeguards on duty will determine the safety conditions of the pool and facility. If the pool needs to be cleared, please report to your vehicles immediately and await further instruction. We will follow the National Lighting Safety Institute’s recommendation of waiting 30 minutes from the last sound of thunder or sight of lighting before resuming. Team Reps, in conjunction with the Referee and the lifeguard staff will determine whether the meet can resume.
