Good evening and welcome to Preseason Week 2, Gators. We hope everyone is excited for Time Trials this weekend! Please read below for reminders and updates for the Gators this week.

Gators Registration Fee - Just a quick reminder to be sure you submit your Gators payment by the end of this week. You may drop off (or mail) your check to our Treasurer, Jeremy Davis at:

Your account must be in good standing (dues paid) to be eligible to compete in ODSL events. Please note this includes participation in Time Trials.

Preseason Practices continue this week, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm (six separate, 30-minute sessions).

Please sign up for practices using SignUpGenius. Swimmers may attend only one session per day. (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0848ACAC2AA7F94-57055417-preseason#/)

Inclement Weather Reminder- If the pool needs to be closed due to weather, practices will be canceled. This could also mean practices may end early on occasion. Please keep an eye on the weather and your phones. Coach Emma will send a Swimtopia Text Alert and post to the Gators Facebook group whenever the weather impacts the team.

Swim Meets This Week: Time Trials – Saturday, June 7

Time Trials are low-pressure and a great opportunity to experience what happens at a swim meet. There is no opposing team. It gives the whole Gators family - swimmers, parents, coaches, officials, and volunteers - the chance to iron out all the little details of a swim meet. In short, come to have fun and don't stress!

At Time Trials, swimmers may swim in up to 5 events (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and Individual Medley), and there are no relay races. This is a great chance to set a baseline for the season.

  • Arrival: 7:15 am
  • Warm-ups: 7:30 am – 7:50 am
  • National Anthem: 7:55 am
  • Start Time: 8:00 am
  • End Time: 11:00 am (estimated)

ACTION REQUIRED --- Declare Your Swimmers Now (Instructions Below)

  • Please declare your swimmer’s intent to participate, whether they are attending the meet or not.
  • Deadline: 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 5
  • Meet Declaration Instructions (online):
    • Log in to your SwimTopia account using your email/password - https://greenwaygators.swimtopia.com/login
    • Click on "Meets & Events Calendar"
    • Scroll to the meet you want to declare for
    • Click GREEN "Meet Entry" button
    • Click BLACK "edit" button
      • For each swimmer, select the option of "attending" or "not attending" from the drop-down box
      • Check to enter the events your swimmer would like to swim, if known
        (otherwise, Coach Emma will choose events for your swimmer).
    • Coach Emma may adjust event entry based on performance/skill demonstrated in practice
    • Add any notes for the coaches
    • Click the BLACK "SAVE" button
  • Meet Declaration Instructions (SwimTopia App)
    • Open the app and tap on an upcoming meet
    • Tap on “Meet Signup”
    • Tap on “Edit”
    • For each swimmer, select the option of "attending" or "not attending" from the drop-down box
      • Check to enter the events your swimmer would like to swim, if known
        (Otherwise, Coach Emma will choose events for your swimmer).
    • Tap “Save.”
  • The deadline to declare swimmers is THURSDAY, JUNE 5 at 7 PM. We cannot add swimmers after the declaration deadline.

ACTION REQUIRED – Sign Up to Volunteer

Time Trials are run like all other swim meets, which means we need your help! Please sign up to volunteer (remember, all families must volunteer a minimum of 3 times per season).

You can sign up online https://greenwaygators.swimtopia.com/swim_meets or through the SwimTopia app. App instructions are provided below.

  • Open the SwimTopia app and click on an upcoming swim meet
  • Under the Work Shifts section, click on Job Signup
  • Adults connected to your account will be displayed on the next page with a sign up icon beneath each person's name. Click Sign Up for Jobs
  • Click the checkbox next to a Job Name (descriptions below) to sign up to volunteer at the meet
  • Click Save Assignments

Special Volunteer Opportunity – Become a Gators Sound System Expert!

The Gators bid farewell to our long-time sound system guru, Rob Ramberg, last season. We are grateful to have the Wiese family taking the lead, along with the Donohue family, this season. If you are interested in joining the Gators Sound Team, we invite you to come to Trime Trials this weekend to learn more about setting up/taking down, and running the equipment. As a bonus, if you attend and become part of the GST as a backup, we won’t ask you to do any other volunteering (unless you want to, in which case, thanks!) this season!

Swim Meet 101

We’ve published a guide for swim meets on the Gators website to help you prepare for swim meets throughout the season. (https://greenwaygators.swimtopia.com/swim-meet-101) We hope you find it helpful and encourage you to ask questions if anything is ever unclear. Our goal is a great experience for the whole Gators family.

ACTION REQUIRED – ODSL End of Season Meet Intent

We are collecting feedback to help ODSL plan end-of-season swim meets. Please respond to the following survey before June 18. The survey seeks to ascertain how many swimmers across the league plan to participate in the Divisional and/or All-Star swim meets in July.
